Let’s introduce our 2026 local charities
HCCD is dedicated to improving the lives of residents in neglected neighborhoods in West Central Fresno. These neighborhoods face high poverty rates, limited access to resources, and low mobility, creating significant challenges for residents to thrive. To address these issues, HCCD collaborates closely with partners and organizations to bring sustainable change and development to the area. The focus is on our future, our youth, and our children, realizing they need to be empowered and encouraged, as they are our tomorrow. Mentoring, youth leadership, and development are key to giving them a safe place: group meets and chats, volunteer opportunities, and soft skills building.
HCCD is committed to revitalizing neighborhoods, developing community, and building relationships in West Central Fresno through a comprehensive approach that addresses critical community needs. The mission of the Family Healing Center is that all women and children who are victims of sexual abuse, severe physical abuse and those who have witnessed abuse will be treated sensitively by police, prosecution, and protection agencies by working harmoniously together with the professionals at the center. The center will feature a comprehensive team response to allegations of abuse including forensic interviews and medical examinations with photography, victim advocacy, case management and review, therapeutic intervention, and other follow-up services that may be needed. Catholic Charities was founded over a century ago to faithfully serve people in need could change the course of poverty in our nation. The Diocese of Fresno are the first responders in helping our neighbors in Merced, Mariposa, Madera, Fresno, Kings, Tulare, Kern and Inyo counties with food, clothing, and other basic necessities. Saint Agnes’ story begins in 1894, the year the Sisters of the Holy Cross came to Fresno and opened a boarding and day school for girls. In 1929, at the request of the local bishop, eight Holy Cross Sisters established the original Saint Agnes Hospital on Fruit and Floradora avenues.
The Holy Cross Health and Wellness Center (HCHWC) stands as a beacon of hope, providing holistic care through rapid rehousing services, parenting and financial literacy programs, and short-term case management. It also offers outpatient treatment for substance use and behavioral health. HCHWC diversion services are a testament to our commitment to preventing homelessness and aiding those experiencing homelessness by offering alternative solutions to individuals and families in crises.
Also, the Saint Agnes Mobile Health Unit is operated in partnership with the Fresno County Department of Public Health and Saint Agnes Graduate Medical Education. This unit provides free health screenings, vaccines, physical exams and more at no cost. Click here for more info.
